Live recording from ZoomH4N as part of a World Listening Day event, the second performance we make in exploring the temporary autonomous zones of Tregaron. Part of the Unland sequence, Troia are Dafydd Roberts & John Whatling (we are looking forward to other activities in our reincarnation). Opening and other elements include reprocessed sound recordings made by David Evans at the well during the Gwyl Ffynnon Sant Caron...some audience chatter/scolding midway through!


If you look over the performance photo you see below our red triangle a card picture fixed on the well-used in performance as-no doubt-a visual meditation.

There's a good explanation about Stafford Beer's approach to the Requiem paintings at metaphorum.org/art and below you may see Stafford's take on his approach:

"He has written about his motivation and preparation for the series; a long-standing desire to express his religious and mystical thoughts on death and the life of the soul, in the manner of a musical requiem. He called the nine large paintings a meditation and referred to the collection as an installation. Each has a title drawn from the requiem mass. The pictures were arranged as points on a pathway shaped as an enneagram which offered various possibilities for regarding the interaction of the works.

Nine interactive paintings arranged in a ring generate seventy-two directional reverberations between them. It is too complicated. My enneagrammatic floor design draws attention to eighteen special connections.

The paintings are not illustrations, they are not diagrams, they not literary incursions into a visual field. They are what it says on the box; visual mediations".

One catalogue entry for the Beer Archives appealed to me in particular-it recorded the sheaf of papers as relating Beer's interest/belief that there was within the brain's labyrinth a black hole leading to other domains-in this sheaf we see Einhorn's poetry. Einhorn may well have travelled to Talsarn near Tregaron to stay as Beer's Chwarel Isaf cottage (as Brian Eno did). For a time Einhorn lodged over the county in Radnorshire.

Lyrics are drawn from private correspondence between Stafford Beer and Einhorn, who was a well connected and active networker, concert promoter, attuned to the mysteries; a one time correspondent of Philip K Dick; friend of Peter Gabriel and Allen Ginsburg and much later went on the run, was sought after for and subsequently convicted of murder-I did not realise this when I found the papers whose lyric seemed to 'speak to me', these texts predate his crimes as the notorious ' unicorn murderer', I hope they do not cast a shadow upon our intent.
