I come from fair, must think of you,
the new leaves shades of green,
blossom on apple, on cherry, on thorn;
primroses, blue-bells and violets too,
nervous in wind, are most that has been-
with daisies, with celandines,
jonquils-cool colours, stems green as the corn,
the vegetable crops, to help me, be signs,
few amongst many, life moves beyond you

Saltsea
I met a man who said the
reason I must die is why
He told his tale full well
Too well I realise
Soft flows the stream who lies in spite
never the same twice
Full breaks the sea on the shore
Time calls and he asks for more
Half got and not
Sharp stung by salt
I lie.

about
Recorded direct to four-track in Ciliau Aeron, West Wales in 1993, or thereabouts and originally released by Mick Magic's Music and Elsewhere tape label, Steve Lines' Acid Tapes and Carl Howard's A&T label. After some time we sent this to Phil McMullen and he put us in touch with Spiffing Records' Carl Arnheiter. Carl steered our second 7" through his New York label, and produced an elaborate silkscreen printed bag with fabric sleeve. I can't exactly remember the timeline, this is 29 years ago, we sent the 7" A Circle of Four to Norbert Schilling (then running Magical Jack-later Plate Lunch) who was up for releasing the tape as a CD, I think Carl had plans too but everything went hazy. As we awaited the release we self-released Yew Dark on Daze (and kicked off splits with pseudonyms on Oggum) and Phil McMullen then kindly sent Tony Dale of Camera Obscura fame the tape of this Yew Dark on Daze and that led to much happiness when Tony told us he was into releasing The Echoing Grove & later Euterpe Sequence(by twin sister alter ego Our glassie Azoth). Jason DiEmilio from Azusa Plane was setting-up his Colourful Clouds for Acoustics label, and we talked about doing a release, I sketched out tracks but got stuck in paralysis mode and alas never brought that to fruition, likewise Tony kindly and often asked me what was happening and if I had more, and I wish that at that time I had, but that was then...You can most easily get this release via Youtube, I guess, but as I only have 1 cd and 1 tape I thought now was the time to make this freely available and through LVOF which is both a forwards and backward project/archive. I should say thanks too to Roger Linney of Reverb Worship who put out the compendium You Dark Gone Days last year...and really to any of you who still carry the flame! I appreciate that in this day and age you might prefer to download individual tracks but that atomisation really spoils the flow in my opinion so I offer you side a and side b and these might just be best listened to in sections, with a draught of liquor or whatever suits you best. Brian Kilburn developed some of the art work we used in the poster, the stone circle and the runic font. My old friend Mike Burrows provided To Almandine and allowed me to warp it for my own ends. Thanks Mike. Last but by no means least I need to thank Ruth who appears on flute on Experimenting with an Amen (not here-next time) who helped shape this, guiding me in all things (then and still) , and provided the typography for the original cassette. So I offer this up to you, again, and as with so much on the internet-for free or whatever you think it is worth. If you like this release I'd love it too if you could leave me a positive comment (not a review unless you want!), and maybe if you bought this from Mick or another tape label, even from us back in the day, please do say hi, all the best Dafydd (Tregaron, May 2021)
